Meet at Brain Biz: the PASSO project between neuroscience and technology

The Santa Lucia IRCCS Foundation hosted the Brain Biz initiative: neuroscience meets business , a day dedicated to the comparison between scientific research, technology, and innovation.

The event showcased several projects in which neuroscience research translates into devices, systems, and technological solutions to support people.

During the meeting, Marco Mannisi of Medere presented the developments of the PASSO project , dedicated to the creation of a sensorized orthopedic insole.

The device integrates pressure sensors and IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) . These technologies allow for the collection of data relating to movement, foot strike, and posture. The goal is to support the monitoring of postural alterations and the study of conditions associated with neurodegenerative diseases.

The project represents a concrete example of integration between biomechanics, sensors and orthopedic devices , with the aim of developing new tools for patient assessment and monitoring.

The Brain Biz initiative was made possible by the collaboration between several research institutes and universities, including Sapienza University of Rome, University of Rome Tor Vergata, University of L'Aquila and University of Rome Foro Italico , with the collaboration of the Lazio Region.
